- Max IT ALL - Big G, 5 April 2016
Well lets not babble here. This card is great. I can't say one thing bad about it. Maxed out Black Ops 3 1080p didn't get anything under 75 fps. Maxed out battlefield 4 1080p didn't get anything under 75/80 fps. What ever I throw at it... It man handles it. This card replace my PowerColor Hd 6950 2GB. I couldn't be happier. Very under rated brand... My last card lasted me close to 4 years and is still running strong.Rig card installed into :
BASE HARDWARE

CPU: Amd Fx 8350 Vishera Black Edition. Stock Clock 4ghz
RAM: 16GB DDR 3 1600Mhz
PSU: RAID MAX 730 Watt Modular

- What an upgrade - Rod, 13 December 2015
I upgraded from an ATi 5870 (made when ATi wasn't owned by AMD). That card was awesome and provided me with good grunt until of late. I then switched to a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor and noticed that I needed more grunt. Step in, the R9 380x. Wow, what a leap. My games don't seem to have any 'slow-downs' and I can play all my games on (that I've tested so far) max/highest settings at 2560x1080. Powercolor have really done well with this card in terms of specs and actual performance. It looks great as well. A little noisy when pushed really hard but noise doesn't concern me - I'm after performance and low temperatures - I will worry about noise when I'm a lot older. In any case, my ATi 5870 was louder when pushed so this is not so bad.
At idle, this card hovers between 32-39 deg C dependent on ambient temperature. On a really warm day, 31 deg C ambient, I hit a max temp of 71 deg C at full load and 39 deg C idle. I've got two inlet and two exhaust fans so some users may hit 80 deg C whilst gaming, if case ventilation is poor...but I think Powercolor have done such a good job that this card will take a lot of punishment.
The day of typing this review was cold and wet so max temp whilst gaming was 60 degrees. Rome Total War II in full 2560x1080 glory is a sight indeed. I understand that AMD Crimson is still in it's infancy and this card will just get better and better with each driver release. One other thing I notice after a gaming session is how fast the card cools back down to idle temperatures - less than 60 seconds! This might be due to the large dual fan setup of the card and massive heat-sink. Anyway, my rig is perfect now - I'm looking forward to gaming over Christmas. Guys, if you are thinking of getting this - don't hesitate if you need an upgrade now. I was thinking about 4GB Nvidia 960 which was cheaper but this has just that little bit of extra grunt that will keep me happy for another 4/5 years. I've got a kid starting school and bills to pay so like most of you out there, I can't upgrade frequently.
Oh, and don't let the scaremongers out there fool you into thinking you need a massive PSU for AMD cards. I've got an ageing 650 watt PSU and its holding up fine. It's probably delivering around 450 watts but total system draw should be under 300 watts. I don't have anything to measure accurately but please read some tech reviews - there are a few with power draw specs and comparisons. I chose this over other brands because of price - I'm not ashamed to admit. This was the cheapest R9 380x out there but not the slowest by any means. 1020MHz core - 1475 MHz RAM speed.
I will happily give this 5 stars - ratings are relative to the experience of the users that rate them and whether the product ticked the boxes they were after. I was looking for more power, more RAM, good price, some gaming longevity and lower temperatures - this ticked all of my boxes so 5 out of 5 for me and bonus: This card not only looks great but has outstanding build quality and a back-plate. And Wootware were awesome - thank you. - Great 1080p performance - Michael, 12 December 2015
I've been playing MGSV:TPP, Star Wars Battlefront and Dragon Age: Inquisition non stop after receiving the card a few days ago. Each title maxed out on ultra detail, 1080p on an i7 3770 with 16GB RAM. Sure there have been times with <40 fps but most of the time I'm averaging out at 55fps. I've also played some less demanding titles like LoL and Brutal Doom and it's an absolute treat with VSR enabled..
