- ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen4 NVMe Expansion Card - Coligny, 15 April 2023
Extremely high quality, difficult to integrate in older Asus MB's, you may see only one M.2, however, a very good plan to expand to many M.2's, but need enough of the correct expansion slots and newer MB. Best to RAID.
- Stunning performance - Robert, 28 March 2023
The expansion card works really well with it's own fan. It holds up to 4 drives, I only use two. Heat dissipation is excellent too. I get in excess of 3100Mbytes/sec for rw.
- Sleek and unique - Craig, 30 September 2022
There aren't too many cards like this out there, but it does its job very well. Whilst any motherboard can support at least 1 NVME drive, the real potential of this card is unlocked if your motherboard supports PCIE bifurcation so that you can run up to the maximum 4 drives. You can get some serious speed if you use this in a PCIE gen 4 system with gen 4 NVME drives, but this will also work perfectly in a gen 3 slot.
I have the fan switched off on my card as I don't need it for only 2 drives. The huge aluminium heatsink does a good job of keeping the NVME drive temps reasonable and if your case has decent airflow, it shouldn't be a huge problem. Thankfully if need be, the fan is only a small switch flick away.
This card is great value for money and I highly recommend it. - Amazing performance - Daniel, 11 October 2021
This card is extremely well built and looks beautiful in your desktop case. It is a rather long card so if you have a small case you might need to look elsewhere.
The performance is based on your computer and this card will not act as a bottleneck due to it supporting PCIe gen 4.
Although it says it is a RAID card, you do not have to use it in RAID, you can address your 'drives' individually.
I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because the fan is on the slight noisy side. This is not exactly an issue since the heatsink makes good thermal contact with the drives and you can also simply switch it off. By the time you need the fan, your computer will probably working really hard to copy all that data around and your CPU fan will be much louder.
For the price, you can't find any better PCIe gen 4 nvme card that holds 4x drives.
