- Okay hardware with disappointing software - Chris, 27 May 2021
The hardware in this laptop is really decent.
Make no mistake it will take care of all if not most of your portable needs in terms of work or even gaming.
However, if you're the kind of person who likes to dive into the built-in features for extra enjoyment or even do an occasion factory reset to help speed things up again, you'll be frustrated and annoyed beyond anything you've ever experianced!
The Aura software is so poorly designed it somehow manages to detect the laptop and its lighting zones in Armoury Crate, but trying to adjust them Aura Creator itself, renders them suddenly unavailable.
To my frustration, I've been trying to reset the laptop and set up the drivers for it for the past week over and over and over again, all while being guided by Asus customer support.
It has now gotten to the point where I've been recommended to return the laptop to a repair center, which is tech support for "Kindly leave me the hell alone now and go be someone else's problem".
What's infuriating me the most here is that this issue is sporatic, sometimes you'll do a reset of the laptop, and Armory Crate along with Aura creator will work fine!
But then other times, it won't and instead, something else will bug.
What's weird is that this is all software that was previously "pre-installed" on the laptop and worked fine together, but now suddenly after a single factory reset, decided to glitch out.
This has been an absolutely terrible, frustrating, and at best-infuriating experience!
It's gotten me to the point where I will most likely never buy an Asus laptop ( or potentially any Asus product for that matter ) ever again and would advise you to steer clear of their laptop range or risk a similar experiance.
