ASUS RT-AX55 AX1800 AiMesh Extendable WiFi 6 Wireless Router

Setup is familiar as with all ASUS routers so I was up and running within minutes. Wi-Fi coverage is excellent and I do not have anymore dead zones as I had with my previous router. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking to get an affordable Wi-Fi 6 capable router.

Pretty decent fiber router with AI mesh technology and wifi 6. I mainly got it for the DUAL WAN feature that lets me use two fiber connections at once (either via load balancing or with one as a fallback) and it works like a charm. No issues so far. 10/10 would route again.

I'm not using it to its full potential with all the features but this is a solid router. Very happy to have solid wifi and no more fiber connection issues.

Running this as a node with the AX-5400. Recently bought a duplex and needed better signal downstairs. Network speeds are almost identical now everywhere in the house, almost matching the gaming PC plugged into the main AX-5400. Asus all day, errr day.

Plug and play solution for getting Wifi 6 running with a hassle free setup and east control through the ASUS router companion app. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their Wifi solution. *Does decently in an old block with thick walls in terms of range.

Router is fast with 4 cores and worked smoothly with my old Asus RT-68U in a AI mesh, extending my Wi-Fi to whole house. And it is cheap could do up to 1.1Gbps over the 5GHz and 700Mbps over the 2.4GHz band.

Needed a router that can support 200+ mbps since I upgraded my line. The router arrived in 1 day from Wootware (Epic service) and the setup took less that 5 minutes. Cant recommend more!

This router does the job. I'm using it as an AI Mesh node to extend coverage in my home.
I like the fact that it uses 12 V input instead of the usual 19 V that other Asus routers use. It makes it easier to find UPS protection for it.
I did find it a little tricky to pair with my main router, I had to use an Ethernet cable at first, but once it was paired, I was A for away.
Would definitely recommend. Wifi 6 is a nice extra, but not a lot of devices have it yet.

I had a cheap R600 Asus router before this. I really like the software on the Asus routers so after upgrading my fibre line, I realised I needed a better wifi router and went with this Asus RT-AX55. Wow what an upgrade. The wifi signal is so much better and having wifi6 for this price is simply amazing.

Great router. Love Asus more and more with every purchase. I used this router as my new main and changed the other two to nodes. This router took about 7 min to set up. I did everything through the Android App. My PC is about 20m away from the router with multiple concrete walls between. My connection strength increased dramatically before adding the two nodes. 4 stars because its too cheap to be this Good XD. If you're reading reviews before buying take into consideration that this router is 12VDC :)

We already had a high-end Asus AI mesh router and a good mid-range mesh node.
When the node stopped working, I bought 2 of these for the same price as the replacement cost of the broken node.
Setup was super easy: Plug in, switch on and use the app to search for and add the new routers to the mesh.
It took all of 5 minutes to have our mesh working again, plus we expanded the range rather cheaply.
I can recommend these and am actually tempted to buy one or two more.

Using a repeater to expand reach in the house. Straight forward and very snappy compared to other routers.

Only had 2 weeks now and very happy with product. Service was outstanding too.

All it took was a 5-minute set up with the Asus phone App -including firmware update- and that was it. Sorted a corner of the house that needed a boost. Good product overall. As always, Wootware's service was impeccable.

Ok I bought it to be added to RT-AX56u to form AIMesh
But reading the reviews they listed one problem
That this unit does not have slots so you can wall mount it
Since I did not really need that I was happy to buy it

I have decent IT skills so no stress for doing anything if needed on config

Received the unit and first thing
The reviews stating it cannot be wall mounted is wrong at least on new ones
It has the points at bottom

As for setup and difficulty there

You power it up near your existing router (if your existing one will still be main one)
And you go onto existing routers config page then AiMesh option
Add AiMesh node then it finds it
You select it and it then adds it, this takes a couple of minutes
Once done you can see the node on same page

I then went to administration- firmware upgrade and it showed my existing router as up to date but new one with older version so I went check and then update and it ran update

After it ran update I went to AiMesh and then selected the RT-AX55 - management then selected Ethernet first since mine is connected via cable
All done and working great so far

I have an AX-56U as a main router and needed this to set up a Mesh for my home. It does the job very and connecting it to the network is as easy as the box says. I'm a big fan of Asus routers as it is always excellent products. The AX-55 is not exception. Being WiFi6, with Gigabit LAN at this price point makes it a very good purchase and recommendation.

Also being able to get AiMesh compatible routers now for under R1500 makes the overall system much more attractive and easier to recommend over the TP-Link Decos.

I'm looking forward to navigating the menus and customizing some settings. But otherwise this was a simple plug in and play installation. Better Wifi Range than the "Free" routers given by service providers.

Swopped out my rt68u mesh node for one of these as the price isn't too bad the power consumption is 1/3 of the 68 resulting in my wibox lifepo4 getting 15hrs off backup power to this router vs 6hrs on the r68u.

Becuse the link to my Ax88U is now wifi6 to this node, even with -74db backhaul link I can still do a speedtest @200mbit+ connected to this node when the ethernet backhaul is down.

I'd say for a small apartment this little router is a very capable device for the price, but the AX56U might be a better pick as a main router.

I use this as a mesh node in my home. Less than 2 minutes to set up and it hasn't skipped a beat since. You can't go wrong with Asus hardware

First impression of this router packaging and marketing - Quality and feature-packed.
Of course this was exactly the case when using and setting up the router:

- Connected to PC via LAN cable and connected to the router via browser. Setup wireless SSID and password.
- Connected LAN cable from fibre box to the WAN port
- Connected PC to router wirelessly using my setup SSID and password
- Instant internet. Everything was done automatically.
- Enabled DDOS protection, AiProtection, etc that is included with the router

Probably the easiest setup I've ever done and the wifi signal is absolutely amazing. It also switches automatically between 2.4ghz and 5ghz on the wireless devices connected based on the distance of the device (2.4ghz has a better distance) and the device support (most modern devices support 5ghz).

Coming from an ASUS DSL-AC56U modem router, this is a beefy upgrade.

There's a few settings that was a bit of a learning curve but nothing too complicated.

THE BEST wifi router I have ever owned. Good wifi coverage, excellent wifi speeds, lots of features including DDOS and AiProtectionand features not part of routers in this price range. It is also easy to setup, LOVE IT !!!!
