- No reason to spend more - Daniel, 1 August 2017
This monitor is just perfect for my needs - I can't justify buying something more expensive. I felt that it is only missing AMD freesync and the Nvidia's "whatever-it's-called" to make it the perfect package. But I have managed fine without it for how long already, so I really actually can do without it.
Speakers are OK for a monitor. They are too bloated bass-wise, but I guess they are trying to avoid that tinny sound. I mostly only use headphones/earphones anyways, but if I want to use the speakers, they are there. They are a great addition to the monitor and I'm glad to have them. - Perfect Budget 4K Monitor - Simon, 2 December 2016
Bought this on a dare and have been pleasantly surprised. Despite this being a TN panel the colour reproduction is good. However the viewing angle is not particularly great - to be expected with this type of panel.
The response time is excellent and great for FPS gaming. If you want to game at 4K you will need a LOT of graphics horsepower. I found that gaming at 1440p was the best in terms of performance and field of view in games.
The resolution is awesome - cannot believe it took me so long to upgrade. Gaming at 1080p is perfect on this monitor - nothing blurry. Movies are amazing. However there is a lack of UHD content available, but this should change in the coming months. Already Netflix (for a platinum monthly subscription) has UHD movies for streaming - only usable in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 with a minumum recommended internet speed of 25mbits.
The monitor isn't very quick when switching resolutions - like when a game is set at 1080p. This doesn't bother me at all, but it may annoy some.
Plenty of connection options - DP, mDP, HDMI. No DVI or analogue - not a problem in my opinion.
There are speakers built into the monitor that are actually acceptable for monitor speakers. However I would definitely not consider using them permanently. But in a pinch - they'll work.
The stand is not height adjustable, however it does tilt. Stand is stable and easy to assemble.
4 stars given instead of 5 stars due to viewing angles and TN panel.
Wootware service was again awesome.
tl;dnr version:
PROS
- Awesome Resolution
- Plenty Inputs
- Fast response time
- Movies and games look amazing
CONS
- TN panel
- Poor viewing angles - mainly vertical angles
- Stand not adjustable in terms of height.
- Lack of UHD content available
Buy it, you wont be disappointed. Just be expected to get better performing monitors for significantly more money. In my opinion if you are on a budget and want to make the move to 4K, this is definitely a contender for your attention.
