Kingston HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset With Mic Black Red

I've only spent a day with the headset, but here's my impressions. From the get go, the packaging is excellent, and the variety of included accessories is top notch. No gimmicks, just thoughtful inclusions in the box. The headset themselves feel very well built, solid yet lightweight. Moving and stretching the cups apart produces no audible creaks, unlike plastic headphones, and once it's on your head you can't hear any sounds from the cord or the hardware itself, which was a problem with my previous headset. They are incredibly comfortable, and while I prefer the velour earcups, the leatherette cups aren't bad either - I usually can't stand them.

As for the sound, I can't comment much on the mic yet, but the headphones themselves sound great. However, they are very, very bright. Even brighter than my Grado SR-80i headphones, which is saying something. By bright, I mean that the highs are very crisp - almost too sharp. This is a desirable sound for listening to rock music, but it can also be fatiguing to your ears over time. I have not experienced any problems yet, but only time will tell if it's an issue here. The bass is slightly less prominent than I expected given what was said in reviews and the gaming branding, but it's certainly present. I'm driving these with a good motherboard with a built in headphone amplifier, which should be ample, but I suspect a decent standalone headphone amplifier will bring out a bit more in the lower end. Overall, I'd say they don't sound quite as good as my Grados, which have slightly more reserved highs (never thought I'd say that), punchier bass, and a wider soundstage, but the Cloud is much more comfortable to wear. In comparison, my Sennheiser HD429 headphones offer more bass, but not necessarily better bass, and the mids and highs, which usually sound fine, seem muddy after listening to the Cloud.

Overall, they meet and exceed my criteria for a good headset/headphones: Great comfort, build, and sound.

I had my doubts off buying a expensive headset, since I didn't think there will be much of a difference between my old cheaper one (~R250) and this Kingston. But boy was I wrong, I immediately noticed a big difference: the sound quality was much better, more clear, and the headset sits very comfortable. I've been mostly using the headset on battlefield so far and it has made a big difference! The passive noise cancelling also works very well. The packaging is great, and you get an array of extensions and connectors. I am very impressed and will definitely recommend this product. The service from Wootware was also fast and efficient.

All round excellent product. I am very impressed with everything about this headset. Sound quality, build quality, comfort are all excellent. There are many accessories included that other companies would overlook including carry bag, various cables, even an airplane jack. The packaging alone is testament to Kingston's (and Q-pad's) attention to detail. Kingston is now my go-to brand for quality products. And of course Wootware provided excellent service again, fast delivery and at the best price.
