TL:DR Wootbook for gaming, Legion for functions

I purchased a wootbook a mere 2 months ago as it had very high specs and importantly it had liquid metal cooling. As my Dell G15 5525 was throttling with the summer heat I needed to get something that would not throttle every odd gaming session. Check my review on the Wootbook ultra product page.

As for the Legion pro 7 I was browsing the store and saw it at R42k. Yes its by no means cheap but I was scratching my head as to why I bought the Wootbook with all its components when the Legion was the base price with all of its components. Had I missed something? As I was in the mood to experiment with Linux as a Windows replacement I decided to test it with something that forces me to get Linux working. It was fine until I moved beyond Steam for gaming.

On the Legion itself it does have more of the features that I am looking for. Its numpad has the usual enter button placement, its screen does support gsync, the placement of the USB ports are better, you can use DP alt mode on the USB-C port and because the point of my original wootbook purchase the gpu does have liquid metal cooling. That said the downside is that it is only the GPU while the Wootbook has on GPU and CPU both.

With all of these features why would I consider the Wootbook? Well, pricing. When I purchased my Wootbook with all its parts and windows it didnt come close to the asking price of the Legion and even now with my upgrade options the Legion is only matching that of the Wootbook. Out of the box the Wootbook is faster and quieter than the Legion but the legion has more features to my want. For anyone considering a nearly R60k laptop I suggest whichever one matches your preference and needs.
