- Big GPU go brrr - Russel, 28 July 2022
Stupidly fast GPU and the new prices are great as well after the mining craze has finally finished. Great upgrade from a 3060Ti and works wonders on newer 4k120 TV's - still one of the quickest GPU's money can buy until the new Ada Lovelace cards *eventually* come out whenever they do
- Awesome Card - Dimitar, 17 December 2021
This is a great card, runs at 25 degrees on idle and doesn't go over 65 degrees under load. Every game I throw at it runs at a minimum of 60fps with everything maxed out at 1440p (165hz)
- Great! - Robin, 3 December 2020
This card is great, runs cool, keeps quiet and plows through anything you can throw at it.
I want to commend Wootware for an amazing customer service as well. - Pretty solid card, decent brand - Stephen, 3 December 2020
I was sceptical about purchasing a Palit branded card as my first choice has always been Asus but with the stock shortage, I took the plunge. It is not as pretty as Asus cards (but that is very subjective). Performance wise, I am not dissapointed at all. It boosts above the advertised boost clocks without any additional overclocking needed. The fan curve needs tweaking, it is very aggressive out of the box and loud. With tweaking, I got the fan to be slightly louder than my Asus Strix 1080 which is impressive considering how much faster this card is than the 1080. The heat under heavy load can get up to the high 70's to low 80's (highest I have seen is 82 degrees). Having said that, if I remove the silent panels of my case which would put it into the high airflow config rather than silent, then these temps drop to low 70's under heavy load. There is a slight bit of coil whine but you can only hear it if you take the side panels of your case off (this is also only under high load). Inside the case with panels on, you cannot hear the coil whine at all.
I have also had zero crashes.
Size of the card is also a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It is basically the same size as my Asus Strix 1080. EK already make water blocks for this specific card so you can easily water cool it as well if you want to get the temps down even further.
Highly recommend this card and brand if you are not able to get the brand you want or willing to spend the extra money on other brands. I do not regret the purchase at all and it is great to finally framelock to 120FPS for my 120Hz monitor on all the games I play. - This is a great RTX 3080 card. - Jaco, 2 December 2020
Out of the box with no overclock I got 16050 on Time Spy, Port Royal 11319. This was using 1080p 240HZ screen paired with Intel i9900k and 16GB RAM. On COD MW I get over 250FPS on Ultra detail and on COD Cold War running 240-250 FPS on High detail, with Raytracing on with Ultra detail 1080p I an getting 130FPS. Now it is time for new screen. On temps it is better to add a custom curve, with out that games was running at 75c and with getting about 68c. Thanks Wootware, great service from you guys. This was not the card that I wanted to buy but with stock shortage and price of other 3080's, this card performed better than what I expected and can recommend to someone looking for a cheaper alternative. Now just to see if it will run for another four years like my GTX 1080.
- Good performance but... - Joseph, 1 December 2020
If your looking for one of the fastest cards of 2020 you have found it. The Palit RTX3080 is also one of the better models available. And its one of the cheaper ones on Wootware.
I had a 2080ti and the performance boost is around 25-35% which was to be expected. However I am more upset with nvidia having their card draw around 25-35% more power than the 2080ti for the additional performance. I am also not happy that the card has less VRAM than the previous flag ship gaming model. But that's just me. - Great Card - Shaun, 22 November 2020
Got my RTX 3080 2 weeks before it was meant to come, thanks Wootware!
Card runs smoothly, nice and cool and not noisy at all :)
Sag bracket is decent as well and very handy - Great Card - AmazingHorse, 19 November 2020
Upgraded from my 1080ti to this beast the other day.
Amazing card and keeps nice and cool if you play around with some manual fan curve and % settings.
RTX enabled games all run 100+fps with everything turned up on 1440P (Modern Warfare, Metro Exodus, Black ops Cold War) which is great.
As usual amazing service from Wootware, card was delivered before ETA and on a Friday which is bonus :D
- Highly recommend - Todd, 17 November 2020
Great card all around! Handles all games with ease.
Running temps are cool. Sag bracket not installed but card is sitting straight in any case.
Great card. - Great card - Andre, 17 November 2020
Well done to wootware for having this card in stock or coming soon regularly. The price is also not too bad.
Fantastic performance in all games that I play but then I did upgrade from a 970 so anything would be fantastic. Consistently above 150 fps at 1440p max settings for most games. - Excellent - Willem, 16 November 2020
Very much enjoying this card. It is a huge step up from my GTX1080. I can finally experience ray tracing with all settings maxed out on a 4K monitor while still getting decent frame rates. The card also arrived much earlier than expected which really made my day. Thank you so much!
- Fantastic card! - Yuri, 7 November 2020
Great card and great service from Wootware, got it even sooner than expected!
Card is solidly built, thermals on a hot day are around 80C on a hot day at full throttle, with a more aggressive fan curve can get it under 70C quite easily.
The only gripe I have with the card is the RGB control, it can only be done with Thunder Master software and resets every time you restart the PC and has to start on Windows start up to load the RGB profile, would be nice if it saved the RGB settings to the GPU BIOS so that I don't have to run this bloatware on top of MSI Afterburner. Apart from that, no complaints. - Good upgrade - David, 4 November 2020
Running with an older rig, installing this card has certainly given it a new lease on life until such time as I replace it. Massive increase in performance. The card is quiet and does not generate massive heat in my chassis. Just a good purchase all round - no complaints and no issues to date.
- AMAZING - RoadRunner101, 2 November 2020
WORTH EVERY CENT. ITS A MUST BUY!!!!!
Performance: Much better my previous RTX 2080 ti
Cons: Nothing. Everything Works out of the box - RTX3080 review from Wootware - Damon, 31 October 2020
No fuss, card came earlier than expected. Very pleasant experience ordering from Wootware. I ordered a screen from them separately and very positive experience. As for the actual product. Installed no hassle really enjoying it. Straight out the box reached clock speeds of ~1935 no issues no crashes. RGB effects really pleasing.
- Beast of a Card - Mabuya, 30 October 2020
Thanks WootWare for delivering this beast of a card. I often play COD and can consistently hit 150 fps on 1440dp. It really chews anything you throw at it and a good 2 year investment. Now going to test this on WatchDogs. Only complaint I have is these cards are are about 2 and half slots so for us itx junkies Founders Edition would have been the right size. But, I'm really happy.
- Great card and great value. No crashes. - Gabor, 30 October 2020
This is decent card. Performance is very good especially considering that this is the cheapest card I could find. The automatic boost goes to 1950Mhz+. It is not a very loud card either, my PC is quieter than with my old 1080FE. Capacitors on this card also seem OK according to reviews. Never crashed once so far.
- Scares me to death - Ryunosuke, 30 October 2020
First thing I noticed when it took it out of the box was the anti-sag thing. I had no idea how to make use of this (more on that later) but the card was heavy in my hand so when I saw it comes with a sag protector I was very happy... even though inserting the sag protector means this card takes up 6 (!) slots in my case!
I also noticed the card has 2x 8 pin sockets which made sense since I've been hearing about the twin power cables since forever... but it also came with an adaptor cable that allowed you to connect two cables to a single slot. This confused me a bit because I heard of the founders edition needing a 20 pin connector and heard that you get a split cable to turn two 8 pins into the single 20 pin THAT card uses... but this one already HAS 2x 8 pins so what is the cable for? More confusingly, that cable lets you add 2x 6pins into the one 8pin socket. So.... if I attach my 2x 8 pin power cables to the 1 socket as 2x 6 pins then what happens to the other socket after I downgraded from 16 pins to 12 pins? Does this card need 3 power cables? I mean... 8 + 6 + 6 = 20, right? Do they want you to give it 20 pins of power by using 3 power cables? I don't know, let's look in the manual...
The manual just tells you (in multiple languages) to go to the website for installation instructions. When you get to the website there you will find a guide for installing the sag protector and a PDF download of the manual ... which is just a digital version of the printed book that tells you to go to the website for installation instructions. [facepalm] Nowhere does it give any info on the use of the cable or why they give you 2x 6 pins or how many power cables you actually need to use. Just have to figure that out myself, I guess...
Having said that, I ignored the adaptor and plugged the two power cables into the 2x 8pin sockets (even though the last 2 pins just would NOT go in for some reason) and installation was an absolute breeze. The card has been running perfectly fine on my 550W PSU. I should hope so since I sacrificed 6 bays for it!) Well, I say it runs fine but...
I tried playing a game at 4K for about an hour, everything on ultra of course, no problems whatsoever...
I tried using Unity and ran it for 2 days straight, no problems whatsoever...
I tried using the Unreal Engine (but didn't do anything) and within 30 minutes I got this massive popup telling me the GPU is running hot and I should check the airflow and ventilation in my case. This popped up again 5 minutes later.
Having a look at the temp I saw it was running at 68 degrees and apparently the 3x 140w intake fans and 1x 140w exhaust fan in addition to it's own fans was not keeping the GPU cool enough. I eventually removed the cover from my PC so it can have all the ventilation it could possibly want but that did nothing to the temp. I adjusted the fan speeds but still don't see any difference. In fact, the app reports the fans are not spinning at all. Software problem? Dunno...
As a result I have been too afraid to open the Unreal Engine again just in case this GPU melts my PC/house down. I was told that a more powerful PSU will reduce heat in the case so I ordered a R2500 platinum 1000W PSU to try and cool this R18500 GPU. Hopefully this will allow me to use the card without fearing my house will burn down. This is the first time in my life that I ever got a warning popup telling me my GPU is running too hot so, yeah, scared as hell :(
Running UE4 with this card installed scares me to death so I am limiting myself to what applications I run now that I have this GPU installed. From what I have seen this card works great when it works but, yeah, I am too afraid to run GPU intensive apps thanks to my first ever GPU temp warning popup only 30 minutes into opening (but not using) an app.
Fingers crossed this new PSU makes the GPU run cooler ( as strange a that sounds) and at least cool enough to allow me to use UE4! - Palit RTX 3080 and wootware - Nazeem, 22 October 2020
4th time in a row I'm using wootware. From PC builds to components. I got this card pre ordered and delivered today. It's meant to be for Unreal Dev work but it rocks at gaming on my system (they assembled). Quiet card, effortless. Thanks!
- Great quality from a "cheaper" board partner - Faux, 8 October 2020
I was very skeptical buying a Palit and was going to wait for an Asus but given the current launch supply issues I took the plunge and got this card.
In terms of performance all the cards at stock are within a 5% performance margin of each other, so get whichever flavour card you want, you'll still be getting 3080 performance.
I've upgraded from a KFA2/Galax Hall of Fame GTX 1080 SLI Pair to this.
Where I was struggling to achieve 140+FPS at 1080p I can now achieve this at 1440p with a single card.
The Palit 3080 is an incredibly small card when compared to the 3-slot 1080 Galax HOF cards.
There is an included anti-sag bracket which is really not needed unless you're going to be moving your system around constantly, as the card is not big or heavy enough to need it in a static system, but still looks cool with the LEDs lighting it up.
Ensure that your PSU or power budget for your system is up to the task, a good quality 650W would be enough for this system providing you're using a 65w CPU like the AMD 3700X or 3600X
Pros:
it's an RTX 3080!
Fans turn off at idle temps
Fantastic backplate with lots of airflow cutouts for the 3rd fan.
Plain "Geforce RTX" branding when seen from the side. (RGB supported, can be turned off)
Ability to unscrew the horrible looking "GP" silver trim on the fan side of the card. (RGB, can be turned off, I have now affectionately named this card 'Gauteng Province' because of the GP logo)
Quieter than the reference card (but not the quietest card when it comes to the other brands)
No coil whine on my unit.
Cons:
Fan curve may be a bit aggressive, easy to fix with included software, tends to run at around 70~ degrees C under load. (easy fix)
Plastic fan shroud, while very sturdy, is not the aluminum shroud you'd find on the Galax EXOC series cards. (not really a big deal)
Does not include an extra HDMI / Displayport like some other card vendors. (gigabyte) (not really a big deal unless you're building a monitor-wall)
Do not use the included dual-6pin to single-8pin PSU adapter, this adapter appeared to be faulty and would leave the card in a state where it would not allow the system to boot. (very bad! make sure you use the cables directly from your power supply rather than adapter) - Great card for the price - Joseph, 5 October 2020
Received this a few days ago and been playing around with it non stop over the weekend. Its an awesome card with beastly performance! As expected from a 3080. The look and feel of the card is great, my only complaint is the location of the power connectors for the card. It takes two 8 pin pcie cables, but the connectors are more to the center of the gpu itself, due to the fact that Palit made a flow-through design towards the end of the card similar to the FE for cooling. Thus making running cables to the card a bit awkward. Other than that the build quality is great, had no problem pushing the card past 2ghz on the clock with no crashes. Very impressed so far. Amazing bang for the buck when compared to other offerings in the 3080 range.
- Chunky boy - Rudi, 1 October 2020
This card is chunky! Make sure you have enough space in your case for it. I haven't used it much yet, but initial thought look positive. I was able to jump an entire resolution from 1080p to 1440p with increased performance. That is just incredible! Time will tell how it holds up.
- Palit Geforce RTX 3080 GamingPro OC - Stephan, 30 September 2020
Coming from a Palit RTX 2080Ti I can truely say that this was a great jump in performance, more so at higher resolution. The card runs pretty cool but I prefer to set my own fan profiles and in doing so drop the temps by another 10 to 15c. Great card and well build. I could not install the sag bracket due to pop rivet sticking out inside the case, but the back plate is keeping it nice and straight.
Great card.
