- Steelseries Arctis 7 2019 - Sean, 23 September 2021
Cons:
I bought this headset for my son for PC gaming. If you intend to use it for PlayStation, get the PlayStation version. USB dongle is a cable with a table top "base station" at the end. This adds to the frustration of the many cables already part of a PC. A single dongle in the USB port without the cable would be preferable. But I suppose it’s for those with PCs some distance away from the monitor/playing interface.
Pros:
It has a control panel you can install on the PC to change and modify settings. But one needn't even do that. Its audio and mic are perfect straight out of the box. The mic quality is surprisingly good for a wireless device. No “tinny” sound. The game audio is good and footsteps and movement around you in fps games are loud and clear. The headset is sturdy, comfortable, good quality materials, and the ear cups aren't as small as I was led to believe by the YouTube reviewers. The wireless range of the headset from the base station is absurdly far. My son walks out into the garden while still talking to his friends on Discord! Don’t let the 2019 put you off. The tech is very good.
And as always, dealing with Wootware is an absolute pleasure! The efficiency of their sales and back office are second to none.
- Best Headset Available - Tiffany, 4 March 2021
Bought this headset for my fiancé for his birthday and have to say they are amazing. They were rated Best Gaming Headset amongst multiple reviewers and with very good reason. They are super comfy and the sound quality is incredible. Very happy with this purchase
- Ok Headphones - Thys, 2 February 2021
Been using the headset for the past month and even though its a very comfortable headset, the sound is great, battery life and wireless range is great, I have a view issues with it which I would like to share with people.
1. The SteelSeries software has an option to turn off the headset for inactivity after a certain amount of minutes have gone by, this option does not work properly as it requires you to use the microphone, if you set the setting to turn off the headset after 10 minutes and you do not use your microphone but are listening to music, the headset will just power off. The only fix for this issue is to set the setting to "never"
2. The volume buttons on the sides of the earphones are very sensitive and your fingers can easily move them by accident and turn the volume down.
3. When low on battery and plugged into the USB cable to charge, the headset randomly turns off. this is not ideal because it means you have to make sure you charge your headset every night while sleeping so that its charged the next day so you can use it. This seems to be an issue affecting specific firmware versions and I've read about several people having the same issue. Not nice when you want to use the headset and its low on battery and you cannot plug it in to charge.
When you pay top dollar for a headset that won several awards, you don't want to experience issues like the above. - Amazing Headphones! - Jarryd, 20 July 2020
Amazing pair of headphones! Super comfortable. Sound quality is great. Mic is great. Adjustable chatmix is one of my favourite features.
- Great headphones - Sharlton, 25 May 2020
Great headphones, had no technical glitches with connectivity or issues relating to sound quality. The wireless connectivity is stable and battery life is very impressive. Its a great gaming headset and an all rounder for music/movies.
- Underrated, well thought out headset - Jayren , 17 April 2020
As an audiophile it hurts me when people look for a headset that "does everything". If it can, then it does nothing well. A set of headphones or speakers for movies need to be able to do clear dialogue while providing great bass, music requires a strong mid-range at the least. Gaming headsets however need to be worn for hours on end, long battery life, and a neutral sound curve (that you can tweak) so you can hear your enemies while juggling Discord. The mic needs to be crystal clear as well. The Artis 7 delivers all of this with ease and more. The headset is extremely comfortable, I wore it for 16 hours straight without my ears heating up, and without getting a headache from the pressure on the band (unlike my HS70's). The dongle that comes with it allows for automatic switching between your speakers and the headset simply by turning the headset on or off - genuinely seamless. The battery life is also great, coming really close to the 24 hours rated. Best of all is the range, it manages to get through solid brick walls and cupboards in my house to reach my kitchen so I can raid the fridge in-between rounds without losing the chat in Discord (other wireless headsets didn't come close to the range these have). It even has a feature that allows your to enhance the game volume on the headset while lowering the volume of the chat - no more need to Alt+Tab out of your game to adjust settings if the chat gets too loud. Also - after trying many headphones popular reviewers listed, whom I thought were impartial, made me realise that often they aren't given how poor the headsets they praised were and how many didn't even review this headset - I would encourage anyone looking to purchase a wireless headset to see if this meets your needs and if possible try them on. You won't be disappointed.
