- It does what it says - Trevor, 17 September 2021
Been an ASUS fan for over a decade programming robots globally and never have any problems till it came time to upgrade, Their SALES service is now non-existent so I had to remove my brand loyalty and look around which was the best "problem" I had in a long time. This "WootBook Extreme IV 3070 GM5TG7W" ticked all the right boxes, powerful GPU/CPU, small package, cool running, straight forward old school design in a steel casing. The cooling abilities is top level spec, it runs all my games and latest DXQ robot programming software with sim cycles down by 8sec a test, that is amazing.
Overall, once I wrapped it and that was really easy as the notebook comes with a thick touchpad and outer display plastic tear off which I sent in as the template for the decals to be cut, the WootBook now looks as "modern" as any mainstream notebook however the way I want it.
It only has one flaw, the speakers are very basic at every level, my last ASUS has the Bang & Olufsen, the WootBook is more Tincan & Drain Pipe so you will have to use a peripheral speaker.
Other than that, you want power in a small package that you able to customise, the WootBook Extreme IV GM5TG7W is all that and more with WootBook sales service being being the best I have come across in years with their brilliant webpage being what sealed the deal, 10/10. - Excellent Laptop - Luke, 31 July 2021
Yes, this is an excellent laptop, its thermals are great not hitting more than 80 degrees at full load, compared to the Wootbook Mech G2 which i had previously that was toasty and i had to use throttlestop back then.
I will say that it could just be due to the balanced only power mode but after some searching its due to the set power mode that the motherboard gives by default due to the new power management technology. They do say you can change it via the registry but im quite content with how the system performs as it is.
I was caught by surprise after opening it up to add my ssd 2.5 inch when there was no area to add it XD and only M.2 card slots, though i guess i didnt read the specs of the laptop properly, luckily i ran out to town to buy an M.2 card.
Nice keys to clean and wipe without cloth getting caught on the corners.
Gaming wise thermals again are great with the balancing of the system between GPU and CPU. Intel did very well with this i7 11800h and the 3070 8GB is a beast.
Terraria and roblox runs great too.
Once again thanks to Wootware for supplying these laptops and the kind customer care service always great doing business.
- Brilliant product and great service from Wootware as always - Bernard, 30 June 2021
Pros:
- Very good performance from the RTX 3070 (this is the full power model 125 Watt (TGP) not the lower power 80 Watt model)
- The GPU temps seem to stay well under control in this laptop
- Very good overall performance from the Core i7-11800H. With the 11th gen chips from Intel at 10nm they seem to have really narrowed the gap and are virtually on par with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H for gaming scenarios, in productivity-focused applications they still do lag behind a little bit.
- Great service and response speed from Wootware
Cons:
- Under sustained CPU loads the CPU will thermal throttle down a little bit, I believe I will be able to improve this with a laptop dock that has a fan.
- The location and installation of relevant software and drivers for the Wootbook needs to be improved by Wootware in my opinion. The usage of a Google Drive folder with little scripts is not very professional.
