- Very very cool - Rich, 17 November 2020
A bit of a hiccup to start off with.
Apparently there was a bad batch of screens, which initially shipped with this model, but the Wootware support team persevered and got mine replaced for me.
And so far, it was worth the wait.
The replacement screen is absolutely superb and the machine is freaking awesome.
This machine has serious horsepower with a well thought out feature set.
I am both a gamer, a programmer and someone who works with AI/machine learning tech, and so far this thing is covering all the bases beautifully.
And it doesn't hurt that is does it all in a small, subtle, form factor.
Considering the amount of power it can push out (even with the liquid metal and triple heat-pipe setup), it doesn't hurt to get yourself a little cooling pad for when you slam the turbo button because you need to draw half of eskom's power output for that full fat RX 2070 super (NOT max-q) to get all of the fps's.... this baby can fit all the fps's in it.
I can get absolutely destroyed by 15 year olds (who, according to their squeaky voices, have apparently done several questionable things to my mother), in buttery smooth high fidelity visuals.
On the other hand, office mode is great for the boardroom and general work time (quite and unobtrusive).
Love the machine so far. - Not reliable - Mikail , 31 July 2020
If I could give it a Zero star i would.
My 1st Wootbook Ultra II:
I bought the RTX 2070 variant and after a week I had to send it back because of blue screens (could not even get to the desktop).
My 2nd Wootbook Ultra II:
Wootware confirmed the laptop was faulty and gave me credit for a new one. I opted for the Wootbook with the RTX 2070 Super. The day I received the laptop I switched it on and activated my windows and restarted the laptop. The laptop could not even get to the desktop before getting blue screens. This was after only having the laptop for 15 minutes!
The 3rd Wootbook Ultra II:
The laptop did not even make it to the courier before I got an email saying Sorry the Wootbook has a dead pixel.
Wootware has the best service i have experienced ever. But i will not recommend this product! - A great laptop, a lot better than expected! - Max, 2 July 2020
The laptop is great!
The mechanical keyboard makes it a more enjoyable experience to type on compared to my macbook pro 16', screen is very smooth and does not disappoint with the IPS panel in terms of colors, it is very responsive as well and I didn't find any ghosting.
The chassis is amazing -- it is sturdy and allows for good cooling efficiency, I did not expect that it would be possible to run 8 cores clocked at 4.2Ghz at all times below thermal limit of 85º, while still running GPU at its full potential in games and render.
Only minor annoyance is that some options are not available in BIOS compared to other brands using the same chassis, like the ability to make the physical boost button to switch between performance and office profiles, instead of using it for Max Fan Boost only.
Another minor inconvenience is the thermal limits for CPU and GPU, I would appreciate if this laptop could run hotter, at 90º for CPU and 80º for GPU.
In some scenarios, this laptop could gain slightly better performance in short bursts with higher temperature limits, but for normal daily use I don't mind that it runs 5º-10º cooler than competitor brands and still pushes a lot more while at it.
Overall, love the laptop; it has a great build quality, good components, amazing performance hitting above its weight and I can't imagine a better price.
