- Perfect balance for parent and kid - Leon, 6 June 2017
This Card is awesome value for anybody with a normal (60hz which means max 60FPS can be displayed which is what most people own) screen of full HD and lower resolutions.
it is the perfect balance between a kids dreams and parents
kids wishes for a 1070 or 1080 cause that is what is the craze now (which would be overpowered unless you have a 4k screen or high refresh rate 144Hz screen)
parents dream use as little power as possible
yes the 1050 and 1050ti would use even less power and kids would be just as happy ,but would rather recommend this card if you can pay a bit more
as this delivers all a 60hz screen can handle
- Worth the money, underdog 1060. - Jarrod, 28 November 2016
This is probably the least expensive GTX 1060 6GB you can find in SA but don't get put off by the single fan and size of the card, its perfectly capable of competing with the rest of the 1060s. However there are two things you need to consider when thinking about buying this card. The first is the ambient temperature of the room you will be gaming in. In Graaff-Reinet where I am currently located, the ambient temperatures inside are mostly between 27 and 30 degrees c and I have found that playing modern games like Battlefield 1, FarCry Primal, Doom etc, the card temperature will be around 80 to 82 degrees c which is pretty hot for a desktop GPU. That leads me to my second bit. If you live in an area where its always hot, then you will definitely need very good case ventilation otherwise the card will suffocate on hot air and warm up too much. When I was in Cape Town where it is generally cooler I never once reached 80 plus degrees c so the claims of 60 to 70 degrees c are 100% accurate and attainable. I would not recommend using this card on a screen with a higher resolution than 1080p, you can do it pretty easily but you will have to run medium to high settings rather than ultra settings on 1080p. Rather get a GTX 1070 for 1440p stuff and a GTX 1080 for 1440p to 4k.
- Amazing Card - Erik, 12 November 2016
If you game at 1080p this is the perfect card for you. Straight out of the box I was able to overclock to 2100Mhz on GPU Core Clock and 9400Mhz on the Memory Clock with temperatures never exceeding 78 Degrees on 100% GPU load stress tests. Even during graphically intense gaming sessions the card never goes over 65 Degrees and even then it rarely reaches that high. Have been able to max out all settings on all games tested at 1080p and stays at or above the 60fps mark all the way through. This thing also sips power like a fine wine. As previous reviewer has stated, the 3gb 1060 might seem like a good deal now but it is already obsolete with newer games requiring 3GB+ of VRam. This is also my first time ordering from Wootware and their service was excellent. The Card literally arrived a day after ordering. Their prices are also ridiculously competitive as I haven't been able to find this card at even close to their price with their competitors. 5 Star Gpu and 5 Star service from Wootware
- Awesome Perfomer - Dean, 1 October 2016
This a great little performer if you don't mind the noise. At the time of this review this card is only cost R700 more then the cheapest 3GB gtx 1060.
I'm glad I didn't get the 3GB as some games like Rise of the Tomb Raider uses 5.8GB.
The fan has ramp up to 80 percent in some games to keep the temps between 60-70 degrees.
On idle it sits between 35-40 degrees with the fan on default 40 percent.
After I set the card to performance mode in the Nvidia Control Panel the cards boost hover around 1870mhz.
Great little card that's beating out the previous Maxwells high-end GPU's .
If you're on a tight budget and planning on getting a GTX 1060 3GB save another R700 and get this instead.
It's future proof as more and more games need higher Vram 3GB is not enough even by today's standards.
