- First (actual) VR experience - Justin, 27 March 2026
I've always loved the idea of VR, being immersed in such a way, and so my first attempt was about 12 years ago with he Oculus dk2 lent by my family member.
Amazing so I tried to save, for the next 12 years, things happened and I've never been able to save enough.
Until I did, and bought the so called best headset after many checking and deciding.
The Quest 3 is an amazing VR headset, not just in terms of resolution but internal hw.
Biggest plus I noticed for me, using mainly steam VR and my PC mainly , as much as I see people not enjoying air link, I find I have had a good experience even with a less than recommended router and WiFi
Do plan on getting a link cable but I have played, for example, a 3 hour session of half life Alyx, without much issues.
Highly recommend this headset as a starter to VR as well as for the more experienced. - Meta Quest review - David, 30 January 2026
I was not sure how much use I would get out of this product, but it has exceeded my expectations. The image quality is excellent and the range of apps quite extensive. From watching movies (in 3D if you have them, or normal), playing games and exercise routines. The headset is comfortable and well constructed. I would suggest an alternative head strap and a hard carry case to protect the headset.
- Service and Product - Duane, 21 January 2026
Delivered in prestene condition and it works great. I like the improvements over the Quest 2 with the passthrough camara and the real time tracking delay is almost not notisable. Only complain is the weight to the front of head but you can buy head straps that solve this problem.
- Amazing! - Morgan, 20 September 2025
This was a great purchase!
It took about a week to get the product from Cape Town to Pretoria, and the whole process was seamless.
From unboxing to set up, the whole process was worth it!
If you are thinking of getting one, this is your sign to do it. - Meta Quest 3 is great! - Pieter, 4 August 2025
Coming from an OG Vive, and a Rift S, this is a massive upgrade. Meta is going in the right direction here. Software is easy to set up, passthrough mode is impressive, and having it standalone is also a blessing. Highly recommended.
- Really good for the price - Bruce, 10 April 2025
So, I want to get a few of the snags off my chest.
Firstly, the resolution is not as good as I was expecting. My last VR headset was a GearVR with my Note9. This is an upgrade, but not as much as I was hoping.
I thought the screens being LCD would not bother me too much compared to that of OLED, but their contrast is quite low. Much lower than I was expecting. So blacks are more a grey and worse than my IPS monitor which is a bit sad. Colours are also not as vibrant as a decent LCD monitor. Kind of feels like a mid range LCD.
Another sore point is the passthrough. The cameras are pretty pathetic. Again, this is not something I care too much about and I knew it would not be that great. But it is really bad. Feels like you are looking through camera's from a low end phone from 2017.
Battery life is not very impressive and the comfort has not improved over the GearVR, but nothing I was not expecting.
Lastly the speakers are okay. The issue is there is a lot of sound bleed. So if you or your kid are playing games, everyone is going to hear it.
The thing that impressed me was how good the tracking is, especially for something that is just using inside out sensors. Even in low light I had no issues. In the dark it stops working, but just a little light from a lamp I found to be enough for most scenarios.
The controllers are also quite decent. The touch sensitive buttons and surfaces are very intuitive and cool to see. Hand controls/tracking was better than I thought they would be. But know you need a lot of good light for that to work well.
Wireless linking to the PC is very good for me, even on WiFi 5. Had no issues.
Games are really immersive and the good ones are really good.
- Take into consideration - Cameron, 31 December 2024
Please include a european plug for South Africans, it was required some work, also include a cheap powerbank at a small additional cost. It would make it alot easier.
- Great product - Derick, 16 December 2024
It's a good product when starting out with VR and would recommend. The tracking is amazing at a lower light level but is the best with lights turned on in your play space. The hand tracking is being updated and will get better as they work on it. This can also help entertain friends and family members as you are going to have lots of laughs as they play and get a lot of scares. If you are new to VR it can help putting a smaller carpet or towel down were you are standing to know that you are staying on the one spot you want to be at. It does have a boundary you can set that will be helpful if you have a bigger play area or don't have something to stand on to keep your position.
- WOW...Awesome!!! - Anton, 3 November 2024
The Meta Quest 3 is is absolutely awesome! I was skeptical about VR before hand...but from the very moment I entered the game lobby I was saying WOW...two weeks later I am still saying WOW. If 3D is your thing, the Meta Quest3 is a must have. Worth every penny!
