- Re-Excellent - DJDeon0, 10 April 2024
Unfortunately Eskom and some cable thieves have given this drive over 200 power outage surges and I suspect finally damaged the magnetizer - which results in lovely 0.5MB/s write speeds. Defragmentation and Chkdsks do not help here. But I mean it lasted 5 years and I luckily still get 200MB/s read speeds but yeah the write speeds are a write-off(ha-ha).
With this in mind - this drive can handle quite a beating - up until a point. My older WD Blue and WD Green drives from yonks ago are still running flawlessly though...so perhaps the Red was not as reliable as I'd hoped for.
Not Wootware fault! Love yah! - Excellent - DJDeon0, 21 July 2019
This is a very good drive, extremely silent and very fast for a HDD. I get max sustained Writes of about 165 MB/s.
