- Quality monitor - Dylan, 26 February 2024
I upgraded from a 1080p display. I found the G3223D picture quality to be super clear, response time is super fast and everything just looks super smooth in general. Obviously, being IPS, you don't get the dark dark blacks, but everything else is good. If you are in the market with a R10k budget, this is a good consideration.
- Dell G3223D 31.5 - Johan HF, 31 January 2024
Great monitor at this price point! It is an excellent upgrade from my 10-year old Samsung 32", especially going from 1080p to 1440, which didn't sound much but the extra screen real-estate proved very useful!
- Great quality with useful features - Craig, 10 January 2024
tl/dr: Great picture, great build, no issues. Would recommend for enthusiasts, casual gamers and desk workers who need more screen space
# Display
upgrading from a 1080p 27" 75hz Dell, the picture quality is noticeably better. The higher pixel density and refresh rate make it a crisp responsive experience. The viewing angles are supurb, this added with the adjustable stand makes it great for showing other people what is on screen
The increased size allows me to easily side-by-side multiple windows on the monitor while working and is a great experience for fullscreen media and gaming. However, be sure that you have enough desk space to fit the monitor, you don't want to sit too close to it.
# Build
The stand is very solid with a good range of swivel and tilt. I have opted to mount it on a monitor arm, so the conveniant latch for attaching and detaching the stand is appreciated.
The frame is of the same style as other Dell monitors and looks cohesive with my old Dell 27" that now serves as my second monitor. Its a small thing, but its quite satisfying
# Features
The USB-C input is great for connecting into my laptop as it provides some power, however it is not powerful enough to increase the charged percentage while the laptop is in use. I use the display port input for my PC and there are still two HDMI ports left open.
The controls (located on the back of the monitor just behinf the right-side edge) are very conveniant to access and use. I especially love the little directional joystick for menu navigation. - Great product and speedy service - Zak, 25 November 2022
Great monitor. To me it's flawless. Service provided by Wootware was great as usual. Ordered the monitory on a Wednesday and it arrived on Friday, all the way from Cape Town to my hometown close to Johannesburg.
- Excellent with broad use monitor - Taariq, 2 October 2022
Pros:
- Most specs are excellent. i.e. Screen responsiveness, adaptive sync ability, brightness, colour production.
- The included type C cable can be connected to thunderbolt to channel to multiple peripherals once connected the USB at the bottom of the screen to a USB switch box or USB hub.
- IPS glow is not too bad. Please note that it is edge lit and not local dimming, which is still okay considering the price of +- R9000.
- 3 Year Dell Premium warranty.
Cons:
- The 15w power on the type C output charges work laptop slowly, it can be sustainable if only working on this monitor (disable laptop monitor) and not running applications that are power hungry.
- Most people would not bother with this monitor's HDR mode.
Other Mentions:
- This monitor is great for both work and gaming, the screen does not suffer from blur of light text scrolling on a dark background that you will find on many VA panels. - Dell G3223D - Elgar, 23 September 2022
Coming fro ma 27" 144hz monitor to the 31.5" 165hz is quite a bit of extra real estate and is immediately noticeable. I recommend that you have it on a monitor arm or sit a reasonable amount of distance from the monitor to embrace the full screen without too much eye strain.
The colour accuracy out of the box is exceptional and will work well for most users. The HDR is a hit and miss, works well in some games and washed out in others.
The difference in the refresh rate is not really noticeable as 144hz was also quite smooth but still nice to have for future proofing.
The USB-C is only good to charge a cellphone and cannot really charge anything more powerfull.
Overall well worth the money. - Excellent monitor for the price - Cristopher, 21 September 2022
The colors are great, build quality is very good. It has a good amount of adjustment in all directions. No bleeding or dead pixels on mine.
It does need some color adjustments, but it's easy enough to do through the menu.
Only real negative is the HDR is ok, nothing special. But that's not surprising at this price point.
Would absolutely recommend for a solid 1440p build. - Dell G3223D 31.5 - Jacques, 8 September 2022
Monitor is OK, a ton of light bleed from the bottom corners.
Already missing my ultrawide lol
Over all not bad, but not as good as you would expect.
