- Suitable - Chang , 18 April 2025
Runs hot even with a board heatsink. I have not tried to force it gen 3. I think I get about 54 - 60 degrees. I didn't format to see if switching the motherboard fixed the problems I was having. It felt like the controller freezes for a second every 5 mins.
- Does the job - Laone, 5 January 2025
I came from a 1TB HDD that has a 16GB Intel Optate drive that was supposed to make it perform like an SSD and although it was quite fast compared to the HDD I was using before it. There is a huge difference now with the Mushkin Vortex, considering after power cuts and loadshedding I had to wait for minutes for the system to boot, I do not have to do much waiting as it boots up the same even if there was a power cut. That allows me to quickly jump back at what I was doing and there's no waiting around even for programs to load, everything is fast.
- Great SSD - Daniel, 27 December 2024
This SSD is decent value for money, its a good capacity with a DRAM cache and all the other features you want in an SSD, as well as really good speeds.
You are paying for performance and not the name thats on the front of it, so you get your monies worth. - Great performance - Tyrone, 9 July 2024
Really happy with it. And of course, exceptional support Wootware! I'll always buy from them if given the chance.
- Excellent value for money - FG, 20 May 2024
This little NVMe SSD will highly likely do quite a bit more IOPS than your desktop PC will ever be able to throw at it, does what it says on the proverbial box : great performance at a reasonable price.
- Super fast! - Keegan, 17 January 2024
Very impressed with the speeds of this SSD, definitely bang for your buck. Loading times in games are noticeably faster than with my older PCI Gen 3 Samsung NVME.
- Quality Nvme - Mavrick6261, 28 August 2023
Bought the Asus Tuf a15 R9 7940 with Rtx 4070 and had Wootware add a extra 1Tb Nvme.
Everything working and operating as expected. - Mushkin Vortex 1TB NVMe - Gareth, 21 August 2023
Super easy to install and hassle free.
Great speeds for operating system/gaming with a really affordable price for 1TB.
Dont bother with a 500gb these days, games are too big. 1TB is the way to go and this one falls into the budget range.
Thanks Wootware!
- Do it! - Dalton, 20 August 2023
Spend the extra couple hundred bucks and get this NVME SSD. This SSD performs as some of the best M2 cards I've ever seen. It also runs nice and cool.
- Fast, and does what it says on the tin. - Craig, 10 August 2023
Not much to say. You plug it in, it just works, and the performance is excellent. It doesn't come with a screw, so make sure you still have the one that came with your motherboard.
- No competition - Jason, 9 August 2023
Amazing!
- Excellent SSD - Dylan, 3 August 2023
This SSD is working perfectly so far. The speed is insane for the price. I'm using this as my OS drive and I'm definitely going to get more for storage.
- Beast - H, 28 March 2023
Sequential Q8T1 Read: 7011MB/s. Write: 6476MB/s. Fast enough for me. Drive stays chilly at around 55deg under load, using heat spreader supplied with Asus Z790 board.
- damn this is fast - Richard, 23 February 2023
check out the reviews, you cant go wrong with this drive or rather beast, be sure to get yourself a heatsink as it does run hot but not as hot as the 2tb variant
- Great Speeds - Tersius, 20 February 2023
Got great speeds as promised, however my Laptop started randomly BSOD after a while of use, the issue disappeared after I installed another SSD. Not sure what caused it. Unfortunate for me, just unlucky I guess.
- NvMe - James, 9 January 2023
PC boot time is 4 seconds flat with this NvMe! I can't recommend this enough times. Read speed is phenomenal, and has enough space for my top games and all my main programs to run on it without any issue whatsoever.
- Great NVMe with good speeds - WM, 31 December 2022
Tested with Crystaldisk and got surprisingly close Read and Write speeds, with about 50% of the drive used I get 7029.33MB/s Read and 5398.01MB/s Write, which is insanely good!
I am going to be honest, I had my doubts on it, because most PCIe Gen 4.0 drives are hotter than their Gen 3.0 counterparts, but looks like my motherboard heatsink is keeping it nice and cool. Will definitely buy another one in the future to fill the empty slots.
In conclusion:
This is a great drive with good speeds, and if you want to buy it for yourself, make sure your motherboard supports PCIe 4.0 (I'm lucky that mine does as it's a Asus Prime Z690p) and also do make sure your motherboard includes a m.2 Heatsink, if not, I noticed that Wootware has some good ones that can bring the temps down quite a lot (I'm probably going to get one in the future to make my build look nice) - Fantastic performance, excellent price - Rudolph, 22 December 2022
This is my first NVMe drive, which I bought to replace my SATA system drive. Wow, what a difference. Game loading times aren't perceptibly quicker than on my SATA drive, which was a huge improvement over a mechanical hard drive. No, the difference is in how many simultaneous I/O operations it can handle without slowing down to a crawl. My system used to become unresponsive if I was downloading and installing games while trying to do something else. Now the game can unpack while I'm copying files and working on the system, and the drive still chugs along. Yes, a bit slower, but that workload would've killed my old SATA drive. I probably shouldn't have used the SATA drive as both a system drive and a game drive, but now it can finally live out its days as an overflow drive for less-demanding games.
It's one of the fastest PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives, for what that's worth, but I'm using it on a PCIe 3.0 system. Why? Simply because it was cheaper than the best PCIe 3.0 drives with 5-year warranties. I expect to be wowed again when I upgrade to a PCIe 4.0/5.0 system in a few years' time. I suspect that it might need a heat sink when it's cranked up to 11, but that's a problem for the future.
My only regret is that I couldn't get hold of the 2TB version. But that one is so in demand that it keeps fluctuating between "stock coming soon" and "out of stock", and I was getting impatient. But now my system is ready for the upcoming games supporting DirectStorage. I won't miss squeezing through tiny holes while the next section loads. - Worth the money - Quinn Frost, 7 December 2022
Very good m.2 SSD. It's real easy to install if your motherboard has those clips to lock in the SSD otherwise you will need a standoff screw. Its light years faster than a HDD, I highly recommend you get yourself one if you looking to boost your PC/Laptop performance. This is a gen4 SSD (motherboard needs to support gen4 otherwise it will run at gen3 speeds) meaning it's double the bandwidth than that of a gen3.
However, I do want to say average users will barely notice a big performance difference between gen3 and gen4. So if trying to save costs, go for a gen3. It will also provide you with fast and smooth experience. Also I recommend this for gamers or people who need to store large files and applications. A 500GB will not cut it, you will run out of space quickly if you are planning on using it for gaming or other personal things that require a lot of space.
Other than that a solid product and great service from Wootware. Well done! - Blazing - Jay, 5 October 2022
