- Great Keyboard - Shahil, 19 April 2023
This was my first mechanical keyboard. I have never had such comfort typing, my use cases are for both work and personal, if you write code for a living you will love this keyboard.
Pros
- The sound is oddly satisfying, it is softer than some other mechs out there as this uses omni-point switches (Light sensors), not conventional switches.
- The keys are highly responsive, and getting to set the sensitivity of individual keys is great, no more accidental grenades by touching the G key!
- You can also set the lighting (Brightness and color) of each key individually (WASD for example).
- The Palm rest feels super premium, and detaches magnetically. The magnet is strong so you wont find it moving about while in use.
- The OLED Screen is great, and I do use it for making quick config changes, but its more a luxury than a needed feature.
- The USB port works great, especially if you want to use your dualsense controller in wired mode for all the bells and whistles.
- This is the best looking keyboard I have ever seen, especially with aftermarket keycaps to show more of that lighting.
CON:
If you don't remove the keycaps and give the whole keyboard a full clean every once in a while, in the long run you may face issues with the keys you hardly use. I generally use my mini leaf blower to clean it with all the keycaps on, but i think that dust can get into some of the sensors, thus preventing certain key presses from registering. So its best to remove the keyCaps and fully clean it every few weeks/months. - Aesthetics Keyboard - RVixen, 29 March 2022
Got my very first mechanical keyboard for almost 1 year now. It's really very good keyboard if you're into luxury feel and aesthetics things. RGB makes & macro me happy, that's what I care about. My favorite part of all is the magnetic wrist rest is extremely luxury touch
Negatives:
- Very very thick USB cable (god I hate it) - it's same thickness like power cable to PSU. It's weird seeing a thick cable laying on your desk to PC
- Software issue where numpad keys doesn't always respond, have to uninstall device manager (and factory reset) every time software start doing this
- I hate to say it, it's clearly louder than non-mechanical keyboard. Just be warned if you've someone sleeping in the same room, it's not quiet :/
I'll keep it until Steelseries release quiet & low-profile switches (laptop feels) with wireless connection - Excellent Keyboard - Saajid, 26 February 2021
Since i decided to get my peripherals to a single brand for single software management, the Apex Pro was my first choice of a keyboard and I do not regret it. Keys are quiet, and a pleasure to type on - these omnipoint switches are something else. Changing the actuation point is a plus...and just to know how responsive you can set the keys to be, you can get them to respond without evening realizing that you are pressing the key down. You can setup multiple configs for the actuation points for different purposes...gaming, typing, or even have actuation points different for each of your keys, if you choose to do so.
Excellent keyboard, and definitely worth the price, in my opinion. - Awesome Keyboard - Oliver, 11 January 2021
I am loving the adjustable keys and the customization options for the lighting and OLED is crazy cool. Never owned a SteelSeries product but very impressed. Build quality is great and feels like a really high end product. Worth the long wait :D
