It is a decent laptop overall I like it. It has Face Unlock (windows hello), that’s nice and I did not see that on the detailed information on this website or any forums. Build quality is great.

I did not like the tip on the charger, the HDMI port is slightly mis aligned, control center software is buggy.

It’s a great laptop but it also has its faults.

Wootware support is amazingly responsive so that is a plus.

Decent specs for the price, well built, doesn't get too hot using the GPU.

I no longer have sleep/resume issues on Linux kernel 6.10 & onwards.

On newer Linux kernels, the keyboard can be fixed and annoying warnings during boot can be hidden, by adding to the Grub2 kernel boot options: i8042.nopnp pnpacpi=off quiet splash loglevel=3

Build is very nice, metallic chassis feels good to hold, I can move it around with one hand. Firmware seems really polished considering the OEM is a Chinese company.

I use it mainly for work and it has been very reliable.

The screen gets very Bright and the response time is good. FreeSync works out of the box on Linux and colourful wallpapers/games looks good on the IPS panel, nice viewing angles and the display has a nice mattey feel to it as well.

I was able to charge it with my smaller Lenovo type-c charger, though YMMV.

Rating 5 stars still because the product page does explicitly state that only Windows is supported. And while the Linux keyboard issue is because the manufacturer deviated from an accepted standard, the actual problem is with the Linux kernel so the fix is not strictly dependent on firmware.

Purchased the Y14, Wootbook 10 days ago and find it fast enough to run Microsoft 365 and other software without a problem.
Only reason I gave it 4 stars is the size of the charger. It is not the ideal size and weight for travelling.

TL;DR great workhorse if you use Windows and have it stationary most of the time. Linux users be warned.

The body & battery of this latest line of Wootbooks is a great improvement.

Hardware wise at this price point for a laptop it's also a very well priced machine.

Unfortunately there are some substantial driver issues on any Linux distro you'll try though - the drivers installed on the machine for you will only work on Windows. E.g. the keyboard will outright not work (external keyboards will) and bluetooth will often not work either. I'm also encountering some sleep-resume issues even on Windows.

I'm working with a developer to try and make a kernel patch for these machines so that tux users can enjoy them - will be sharing with Wootware if/when that's available, so check in first before you purchase.
