Great screen
The image quality is brilliant and there are no issues with brightness, everything is clearly lit and you don't have to adjust anything out of the box.
GSync functionality is good not had any screen tearing or stuttering issues.

The only complaint I have is that there is no display connection cable (display port or HDMI) included but this seems to be LG's SOP.
Also note that to control some of the settings of the screen you have to have the LG software installed, software is good but the download for it is not available on the South Africa version of the LG site, you'll have to get it from global site or via google search.

Great screen for gaming would highly recommend it for 1080p gaming.

With GPU prices being ridiculous due to the twin plagued (both the illness one and the crypto one), I opted to replace my 9-year-old 23" monitor with something a bit better. Well, this monitor is a lot better. It looks beautiful and bright and vibrant. I no longer have whites with a purplish hue. Also, the fast response time means I can actually see what's happening on screen during fast motion without everything becoming a smeary mess.

The highlights for me are the 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync. Fast-paced games feel so much smoother at higher framerates. And variable refresh rate is amazing on the more demanding games. A dip below that formerly-mythical 60fps barrier no longer makes for a disturbing stutter, making my long-suffering RX 570 not feel quite as slow as it is. And frame tearing seems to be a thing of the past as well.

HDR is a mixed bag. Windows 10's HDR handling is atrocious, and the desktop looks ugly. HDR video content is OK sometimes, but the overall HDR brightness isn't really high enough, so the result often looks less vibrant than on good SDR content. For gaming, though, HDR can look really stunning in some games. Horizon Zero Dawn looks spectacular at night, with bright objects light the Moon and flames and Aloy's Focus actually looking like they're glowing. But the experience is probably something that will vary game by game. I only activate HDR in Windows when I want to use it, because it doesn't seem to activate automatically for HDR content.

Lastly, I'll address image clarity. Yes, pixel density on a 27" 1080p monitor is on the low side. However, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well the on-board sharpening improves text clarity. 70% seems to be about the sweet spot. After configuring ClearType on Windows, this monitor is good enough to be have replaced my old monitor for work as well, but mostly because it's just beautiful to look at. In gaming, however, the pixel density is not a problem at all, especially at a proper distance. But if you insist on having the monitor right in your face, maybe 24" is more suitable at this resolution. But I like the bigger size especially in racing games, using cockpit view, since I can use a wider realistic FOV.

In conclusion, for under R5000, I believe that this monitor has improved my gaming enjoyment immeasurably more than a sub-R5000 current-generation GPU would have. If you can't afford the kind of GPU to churn out good performance at 1440p for the foreseeable future, this monitor will deliver a great experience that delivers a very favourable compromise between size and image quality.

Good purchase. If you want 1k 144hz gaming then this is perfect for your needs. Give you good IPS colours, good response time, crisp and smooth frames and will work well for a second screen if you upgrade to 30 series G-cards and a 2k screen with 200> refresh rate.
