- This display will ruin you - Andrew, 10 July 2023
I've had many monitors over the years going back to 60hz 14" CRTs, 120hz 16" CRTs, 22" 60hz LCDs, 27" 144hz LCDs and before this one a 32" 165hz LCD.
This thing makes them all seem hopelessly out of date. After using this display for a while now, OLED is just in a league ahead of all the displays I've owned. There is something special about the quality of image generated when blacks are truly black.
If you can afford this thing, get it. I'd guess that 99% of buyers will be blown away by just how much better the OLED experience is. - Amazing OLED - Sunny, 8 July 2023
So everything about this monitor is true, the good, the bad, the ugly as per reviews out there. However i still love this thing. This OLED is a whole different experience on desktop, and ultra wide gaming. The color, black levels and HDR is great again as per Youtube reviews. I have an LG OLED Tv(the reason for me wanting an OLED on my desktop) and know how beautiful they are, but this, right in front of you is something else.
A few notes from my time using this:
- It is difficult to clean, you need some patience for that.
- The reflective surface can be a problem for some, but not for me because i use it in a dimly lit room without any direct light, and just a backlight behind it.
- One thing that can be annoying, is that the Pixel refresh prompt will show up after 4 hours of use, to do a Pixel Refresh. I just then set it to complete when its in stand by. A bit annoying though when you are in the middle of a game. I would not turn the feature off though(I dont know if you can in the settings).
- There is active cooling on this monitor, so from time to time you will hear a fan go however i cant say its loud enough to bother me.
- And lastly the firmware version mine shipped with is MOB103, just for anyone who needs to know - as there have been issues on earlier firmware versions.
I upgraded my GPU just to experience this screen at its full glory, and i am not dissapointed. Best 20 grand or so i have spent on a monitor.
- An Exquisite Monitor with a Fatal Flaw - James Taylor, 16 January 2023
I've been using my AW3423DW for just over 2 months now and I have a love hate relationship with this monitor.
The image is amazing, the contrast ratio will blow you away with HDR turned on, and the 175hz refresh rate is fantastic on a panel this size.
My only complaint, is the monitor's coating. Most monitors have a matte, anti-reflective, oleophobic coating that is somewhat resistant to scratches. The coating on this monitor however, is the complete opposite. It is glossy, attracts fingerprints and grease like crazy, and scratches really really easily. Chances are your monitor will arrive with micro scratches out of the box (see Reddit and YouTube for other users examples of this), and will scratch further as you handle and try to clean this monitor. These fine scratches are visible under a bright led torch light such as your phone's flashlight.
This makes cleaning this monitor really difficult. The recommended method is to use distilled water with a microfiber cloth. But even with this approach you will scratch the coating further, it is really that soft. And it will take some time a patience to get rid of fingerprints and grease as they really do stick to the coating.
Also, since the coating is glossy it is not recommended to have a light source behind you when you sit in front of this monitor as it will reflect off of the coating and washout / dull the otherwise beautiful colours this display is capable of.
Other than the coating though, this monitor is truly fantastic and puts out images that are really something to behold (especially in HDR mode). If it weren't for the coating I would definitely give this monitor 5 stars.
If you have the cash and are in the market for a gaming OLED panel, I would shop around for whatever other options might be available with better coatings than this one. - A Superb Monitor for a Pretty Price - Daniel, 11 January 2023
This monitor is quite stunning. Going from no HDR to HDR and QD OLED with perfect blacks and superbly accurate colours is something you will have to experience for yourself to appreciate. You will want to replay all of your games if you buy this monitor. Just make sure you have a dimly lit room to put it in as a bright room dulls the experience somewhat. Also be sure to adjust the gamma settings in your games as asked to get the full effect.
- WoW - Quinn, 8 December 2022
I game and do a lot of work on AutoCAD Plant 3D, Autodesk Inventor, Navisworks and a few other programs, So I have been using this for up to 16 hours a day, this monitor is amazing for productivity and gaming alike, just make sure you have a decent GPU to drive this thing (You may need to sell a kidney) my only issue, is that my desk and chair are both set up to be at the correct height, the max monitor height is still to low, my eyes are near the top of the screen. Easy to fix by adding something under the monitor to lift it, but it really should be able to go up a bit more and I'm not the tallest guy around.
- Amazing monitor - Christo, 8 December 2022
This is a phenomenal monitor. I'm one of those people that will research something for weeks before I make a decision of buying it. And almost every article/listicle/Youtube video suggested that this is the best PC gaming monitor at the moment. And they were right. Deep blacks (Deus Ex never looked this good), blistering refresh rate (Old school shooters feel brand new at 175hz) and the colors are astounding. You will not regret this purchase.
On Wootware: I originally ordered this through Dell Online (maybe going direct to the OEM is better?), but after more than a month (and the full amount paid) they advised that they can't get this monitor anymore. Went straight to Wootware and had the monitor within 3 days from Purchase. Unheard of, will recommend them every time. - Game changing - Wouter, 26 July 2022
Quake 3 at picmip 5, and Age of Empires 2 have never looked this good!
But seriously. Finally a modern monitor that gets close to CRT performance. There has been some concern online about fan noise and text clarity. Both have been a non issue for me. I use this monitor for work too. Coding in VSCode is really nice, and I no longer having to deal with dual monitor setup. Anything media looks amazing, I do the occasional Davinci Resolve and Photoshop projects too and this has been great experience.
Gaming is next level. A huge step up from LCD with slow pixel response times. Its not quite CRT yet, but very close. The black levels are astonishing and really makes everything just look that much better and with more detail. This is imo the best monitor for CS:GO or Quake due to the fast response times.
Only downmark is my rear removable cable enclosure panel being a bit bend out of the box, thus not closing flush, but its not a big enough issue for me to stress about.
Yes its pricey, but this really replaces 2 monitors for me, and should hopefully keep me happy for many more years. - Amazing - Willem, 22 July 2022
This is absolutely amazing. The contrast and colour is like nothing I've ever seen on a screen this size. Black is true black on hdr 400 and hdr 1000 delivers amazing contrast where your eyes can actually hurt when looking at a bright spot and needs to adjust again when looking at a darker spot. If you have the money, get this thing. I'm so glad that I pre-ordered.
