I was waiting for this CPU for about 2 months after I bought all other components, so the anticipation was really building up for me. To me this CPU does what I need it to do well. I play games, and I do software development and like to mess around with blender a bit.

After watching some youtube videos I've learnt that this CPU is a bit controversial because of the dual chiplet design, and the software configuration that you need to get right to get the most out of it for gaming. It is designed to "park" half of the cores, only using the chiplet that has the larger level 3 cache which is beneficial for some games. In order to do this correctly you need to ensure you have the latest bios, chipset drivers, xbox game bar, etc. This is a 12 core cpu, so for games that would only make use of 6 cores, which would be ok at the moment. If you are just a gamer, it might be worth while to rather go for the 7800X3D instead where you'll have 8 cores out of the box, or the 7950X3D.

Like I said, for me this is performing really well. I run games on my ultra wide 1440p at 120fps no problem. Thermals are between 75 and 80 with a dual fan AIO.
