I was in a bind to get a replacement drive for my mechanical 2TB and shopped around to find this one for a better price than some of its competition and it has a good review online with decent specs. As far as speed and performance go, you can't compare it to and mechanical drive but neither to an NVME M.2 drive. For data and good reliance this drive will do the job. The Samsung Magician software is also very nifty and provide stats and drive performance tests etc. it can even test your other drives to some extent including data transfers.

Yes there are cheaper options, but you dont get the endurance. A typical drive (depends on capacity) has endurance of 150 - 250TBW whereas this drive has a wopping 1200TBW endurance rating. If you want a drive that must do a lot of writing to disk then this disk (or even the PRO version which has even more endurance) is the one you should get!
