What a fantastic CPU! I haven't used AMD processors in 15 years and think AMD has done some really excellent work on Ryzen. This CPU replaces an Ivy Bridge Intel (4C/8T) based one and I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance on offer by the extra 2 cores and 4 threads in the Ryzen 5 series. My desktop PC feels really responsive with all tasks and absolutely eats through heavy lifting tasks like video encoding and compression.
The responsiveness probably has to do with how quickly the CPU is able to adjust it's frequency scaling to the load demand, it is pretty much in the blink of an eye. It is important to follow AMDs instructions to use their Ryzen optimized balanced power plan to hand over full control to the CPU for power management. You'll then notice in monitoring apps that the processor frequency doesn't appear to change, but you can still notice the load fluctuating on the CPU through the wattage numbers.
The CPU definitely likes fast RAM and I would recommend that you invest in good quality memory as it yields a quite noticeable improvement in benchmarks/gaming. I haven't had much luck with overclocking, but this one does run stable at 3.7Ghz without requiring a voltage adjustment. Going for a better overclock I'd suggest getting a better cooler, the stock one is functional, but a bit noisy at higher fan RPM.

Brilliant CPU for the price, it runs extremely cool and surprisingly fast. I have no issues when it comes to editing in After Effects or Premiere Pro.

After looking at numerous Cinebench scores for the Ryzen 5 1600, mine running stock seems to be holding up exceptionally well. I have no plans on overclocking but having that option there is extremely beneficial for the future.

Updating the BIOS was as simple as it gets. Installed all the news drivers without an issue. My startup times are at about 17 seconds on a standard Seagate 7200rpm hard drive. Almost 30 seconds faster than my Intel i3 I got a few years ago. Windows feels exceptionally fast so I can't wait to eventually bundle this bad boy with an SSD.

This was used in the AM4 build for my brother. He finally made the switch over from Intel (an i5 2400) to AMD.

All his applications (mainly Adobe products) run fantastically and it games well.

And AMD has thrown in the wraith cooler which is easy to install.

Just a great buy all around.

Runs perfect first time.
No issues, can go to 3.7 with no voltage required and stable.
Runs with PH-TC12DX cooler at 24 idle and max load 49(prime) Avg around 44.
I have not OC'ed it to 4ghz, but cooler and voltage still left, seems like it will be possible (depending on silicon lottery)
Games run perfect and tested on Userbenchmark as well. Seems like majority don't run these at stock at all. Stock is considered below average.
