AMD YD2700BBAFBOX Ryzen 7 2700 Octa-Core 3.2GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM4 Desktop CPU

This is not the fastest of the Ryzen 2 range however the low powerdraw combined with an unexpectedly good stock cooler makes for a system that has both power while drawing less than other CPUs in its performance range.

At stock the cpu will boost to 3.45ghz on all cores while my temperatures remained between 40C and 50C on the included wraith spire. Overclocking the cpu to 3.6ghz with no voltage applied had the system still run stable with temperatures also not moving out of the range. However a 3.8ghz overclock with no voltage increase lead to a system crash with a forced bios reset.

Performance wise (at stock) with a geforce 1080ti at 3440x1440 it was impossible to notice a difference between an i7 8700k and R7 2700. Average frame rates at this resolution was about 3fps with the R7 2700 being slower but we are talking about 85fps vs 82fps (farcry 5 max settings) or 78fps vs 75fps (AC Origins). Guild Wars 2 on the other hand seems to take a heavier beating losing up to 25% performance in big world boss fights.

If you are planning on building a high performance PC with as little heat generation and as little powerdraw as possible then I would recommend the Ryzen 7 2700.
