- Amazing!! - Adriaan, 13 March 2026
It runs super well and am enjoying the performance! I will advice it's a good idea to go into your bios and undervolt it just a tiny bit to prevent overheating since mine was running hot too quick out of the box. Other than that I love it so much!
- Great CPU until AM6 or beyond - Johan, 31 December 2025
Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600. Decided to stay on AM4 due to DDR5 prices and upgrade now before prices climb further due to AI-driven demand. Excellent CPU. Paired with a Montech NX600 cooler, temperatures sit around 65 °C under sustained load.
Running an RX 9060 XT 16GB, the improvement to 1% lows is dramatic compared to the R5 3600. Stutters are gone and frame pacing is much smoother.
Using Halo Infinite as a reference:
Ryzen 5 3600
1% lows could drop into the ~70–80 FPS range with noticeable stutter, especially during loading and transitions. CPU utilisation often sat at 85–100%.
Ryzen 7 5700X
1% lows now sit much closer to averages at around ~200 FPS in the same scenarios and settings. Stutter is essentially gone, with CPU utilisation down to roughly 50–75%. Still higher than i'd like, but that is Halo infinite.
So 1% lows x2-3 up.
The system is now clearly GPU-limited rather than CPU-limited.
For music production, this CPU rocks.
A great choice if you want to extend AM4 and wait out AM5 and DDR5 pricing until AM6.

made the upgrade from a 2700x to this 5700x and I'm honestly very happy with the performance and efficiency gained from doing this upgrade 10/10 would recommend
- Awesome - Johan, 6 December 2025
Giving that this is my first AMD Build, i am really supprised at the performance it is giving. Realy great technology for the price.
- R7 5700X - Jean-Pierre, 15 October 2025
First of all it's a great CPU as for the service I am very happy with the Speedy delivery etc. This was a replacement part I had to get due to my 5600G dying prematurely (luckily within the warranty period) aside from waiting a while for my CPU to get tested due to a lot of others being in the line before me, the process went very smoothly so their RMA department seems to be quite reliable and speedy as well.
- Good value - Mauritz Stefanus, 6 October 2025
Doesnt come with a cooler which is stated on the product page.
And wont give much more in gaming performance compace to the 5600x unless the game in question can use all 8 cores properly.
But still offers 2 more cores at a small price increase. good value overall if you are still on am4 - A worthy upgrade - Brenton, 22 August 2025
I upgraded from a 3600 to a 5700X and the performance change was noticeable. A final step to keep my setup going until I am forced to upgrade to the AM5 platform.
A worthwhile upgrade in my opinion - Worth the money. - Great CPU for gaming - Daniel, 6 August 2025
Great budget-friendly CPU for gaming. It handles most modern titles really well without breaking the bank. If you're not diving into heavy simulation games like Cities: Skylines, this chip is a solid choice. If you want a bit more performance in cache-heavy games, consider the X3D version for that extra L3 cache boost. Highly recommended overall.
- Great Upgrade Potential - Dean, 30 April 2025
I recently got this CPU for my current system. Coming from a 3400G to 5700X was a massive leap in performance and stability. I could not recommend this CPU enough!
- Excellent CPU - Troye, 19 February 2025
I'm not a great AMD fan, but this CPU has impressed me. Good value for money and good performance. But best of all, it runs really cool. I'm happy
- Amazing! - Laone, 12 January 2025
Coming from the Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU which is a few generations behind, I can really feel the difference in this one on how it zooms through my workload like butter. Which is crazy because the Wootware PC Builder Wizard recommended the Ryzen 5 5500 which is only PCIE 3, though understandable as it does state it's still on beta, luckily Joshua helped pick this one for it's speed and handling of tasks which those 8 cores which I am forever grateful for such customer services, shows the humans will always remain superior to AI imo. The temps usually stays around 40°C when it doing light tasks at less than 10% utilization, it doesn't raise much when doing Graphic Design tasks or Video Editing with Adobe Software. It is only pushed to 100% utilization by DaVinci Resolve where the temps usually max at 80°C with the ID-Cooling FX240 PRO running loud to keep it there. There might be an 5700X3D which people say add a bit more FPS to their gaming and more powerful, but as for me, this handles everything I set it to for now. It is the best place to enjoy the sunsetting on AM4.
- Great CPU, amazing temps. - Juan, 7 October 2024
Swapping from a Vega64 to a RTX3060Ti did very little for my PC's performance
Swapping from a R5 3600 to a R7 5700X made a massive leap in performance.
I was surprised by how much the 3600 was bottle necking my performance
Generally, it hangs around 65c at 4.6Ghz very comfortably. (I do have a cheap tower cooler though) - Solid CPU - Vernon, 11 December 2023
I upgraded from an i7-6700k to this, the latter having served me well hitherto. This cpu runs my games very well at 1440p and usage rarely goes over 60% under full game load. Perfect bang-for-buck cpu with low power usage as well.
- Great upgrade at a bargain price - Jaco, 4 December 2023
I snapped one of these up at a nice discount; paid only R600 over the price of an R5 5600. The extra two cores are maybe not crucial for gaming but very useful for productivity.
Coming from an R5 3600, wow, this CPU is quick! Have gained anywhere from 30 to 50% overall according to benchmark software. The increase in gaming fps is very obvious, especially in CPU demanding games. It also runs very cool compared to the older chip, with lower voltages. I have yet to see it break 65C even in the heat of summer. Overall, I am very impressed and pleased with it. - Exceptional CPU for the price - Taahir, 5 June 2023
This CPU is probably the best bang for your buck when combined with a decent A520M board (such as Gigabyte A520M S2H and downgraded F10 bios (via Q flash), use stock bios settings except XMP).
Runs any game with plenty of headroom, much better value than any Intel i5 system or Ryzen 7000 system atm. Cinebench R23 results 15500 with downgraded F10 bios and stock settings other than XMP. Recommend ID cooling 214XT white ARBG for this CPU which is going dirt cheap. Temps will will 60deg with the latest bios (slow) and max 79deg (with the old F10 fast power unrestricted bios). Better coolers did nothing for CPU temps. - Great Value and performance - Mark, 1 June 2023
I got this chip now as the prices are good for the performance you get with 8 cores (and 16 threads) and the motherboard support is stable and mature compared to the new AM5 platform which has more expensive RAM and some stability issues
- Decent value, great performance. - Travers, 15 October 2022
This chip is essentially a 5800x disguised as a price cut under a different SKU name to compete with Intel's 12th gen offerings that are finally not rubbish. Performance between the 5700x and 5800x is almost indistinguishable so if you're on AM4 and want to extend your system for a few more years until AM5 makes sense, its a great option.
- Excellent Option - Wayne, 25 August 2022
Upgraded from a 2700X to the 5700X as my last upgrade for the next few years. Paired it with the MSI X570 MEG Unify and running my G-Skill 3200 MHz at full tilt and the system is perfectly stable so far. Temps jump very quickly when the load starts but with a good cooler things are pretty well managed. Using a Deepcool AK620 and never breached 60 degrees.
- Great Performance and Great compatabliity - Peter, 25 June 2022
So i got this one upgrading from the Ryzen 5 3600x and i noticed an imidiate change in booting times which is awsome and i also got slightly lower if not the same temperatures with this processor at around 60 degrees with the fuma 2 from last year which is really good. This thing is insanely efficient and uses so much less power than the 5800x and still performs so closely making the 5700x the most reasonable choice.
i get up to a 22% boost in performance, extra 2 cores and 4 threads. This is the obvious choice if you want something for both workloads and gaming but beware as you can get a cheaper 5600 and can get performance really similar with the 5700x so if you are mainly gaming like me it might be a better choice to go for a 5600 but depends on what games you play. Getting the 5700x seemed like a must as the difference between the 5600x and 3600x you can't really notice as much and the 5800x isn't really worth it.
pros:
More cores and threads than my ryzen 5
really efficient at 65w tdp and lower temps
fast boots and smooth experience
compatable with AM4 motherboards making an easy upgrade
better price to performance against 5800x and can perform closely to the i5 12600k but depends on what game
Overall really good position in the cpu area
cons:
released a year after it should have
doesn't come with cooler
Gets beaten by intel by a bit
Competitve by intel's 12600 but varies
overall 10/10 for doing great in gaming and having way better performance
- A dead platforms last stand - Joseph, 12 April 2022
I upgraded from a 3700X to a 5700X because I still needed 8 cores, I still wanted the 65W chip and I was looking for a 20% performance boost at least. The CPU has delivered on these fronts. Guild Wars 2 is the game I play the most and I was surprised finding that it managed to up the frame rate in some of the more demanding areas.
This is not the best value for money gaming CPU as in Q2 that honor belongs to the i5 12400. This upgrade however will make things a bit faster while staying on AM4 waiting for the next generation to come out.
