The is a really great CPU, upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 and the difference is massive. It does run quite hot with cooler it comes with, reaches 85c when gaming, so I would recommend a better cooler. I have it paired with ID Cooling ZoomFlow 360 XT AIO and it rarely reaches 50c when gaming so nice and cool.
Out of box hits max freq all core of 4750mhz on Cinnebench 23 at max load 88w. I run the curze optimiser on all cores negative 30, boosts the all core clocks to 4900mhz at 88w also lowers temps and volts.

The 7700 is a great chip... it is the same thing as the 7700X just not overclocked out the box. You can turn the 7700 into the 7700X with just a few settings in the bios. You might even be able to get a better result then the 7700X like I have. I run my 7700 at 5.5ghz at max load 88w - average gaming 40-50w. Higher clocks then a stock 7700X at much lower power and thermals. All of these Zen 4 chips are amazing, you'd be happy with any of them.

Instead of having to undervolt the 7700X the 7700 comes out of the box as a 65W TDP cpu. It will draw about 77W most of the time but 88W isnt out of the realm of possibility. Given the price difference the 7700X might be the better value giving you the headroom if you want it. Gaming however the cpus are indistinguishable in performance.
